Olive oil, a recolt 2022 very weak…

This autumn 2022, the olive harvest has started earlier than in other years and this summer's drought will not have spared the olive trees of Provence. A harvest that promises to be very low in quantity, but a quality oil with a remarkable taste.

Consequence of this low harvest : some mills in Provence will not produce Bag in Box pour 2022 and even fear a stock shortage during the year 2023.

50 to 70% decrease in quantity !

Olive growers and millers testify :

We ask you to be understanding, agriculture is not an exact science, we depend on the climate. All the oil mills in the Mediterranean basin have suffered the same drought and are facing the same problem.

Should we expect an increase in the price of oil for 2023 ?

In effect, the low harvest and the cost of energy to run the mills go undeniably with an impact on the costs of French olive oil.

Little quantity but exceptional quality !

To end on a more positive note, olive oil 2022 will be exceptional. The ProvençalBox team has already been able to taste this harvest from some producers : the quality is there ! This advanced harvest has given a remarkable flavor to the fruity greens typical of our region..
